Welcome to The DEN
The Design Equipment Nexus (The DEN) is a library of parts and equipment available to Systems Design Engineering (SYDE) and Biomedical Engineering (BME) undergraduate students. You can borrow items from The DEN for school and personal projects, at no charge, for as long as you need.
Get started by first Logging in with your UW credentials (top right), and begin browsing the inventory list to see the available equipment, parts and free stuff.
Contact Chris McClellan if you have any inventory suggestions or questions about The DEN.
How it works
The DEN works just like a traditional library, where you can borrow items you need, and return them when you are finished, so the next student can use them.
Borrow
To start, Login with your UW credentials, then begin browsing the inventory of equipment and parts. Add the items you need to your Wish List, and make an appointment to pick them up.
Return
You are required to return borrowed items by the agreed upon date. Make an appointment to ensure someone is available to accept the return.
Donate
The DEN operates 100% on donations from SYDE and BME students. At the end of every academic term, donate any unused parts back to The DEN so students just like you can use them.
Keep
To keep a borrowed part or equipment, you must pay the fine listed on the inventory page. Fines are based on the cost of replacing the item. Failure to pay a fine will prevent you from advancing to your next academic term or graduation.
Your Profile
When you Login for the first time, you create a Profile. Your Profile is an up-to-date record of your borrowed items and your Wish List. If you believe there is an error with your borrowed items list, contact Chris McClellan.
Wish List
Add all the items you would like to borrow to your Wish List and then book an appointment to pick them up. Please remember that inventory is subject to availability and adding an item to your Wish List does not reserve it.
Book Appointment
Book an appointment to pick up or drop off items to ensure that someone is available to help you. Appointments are available in general between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday (excluding University closures and holidays).
